No Finish Line for Me at This Year

I ended up a little shy of the 17,000 word mark as posted on my site at National Novel Writing Month, but actually completed closer to 20,000 words. I did not upload more word count even though I had plenty of time to do so. ( my site )

Why?

I have come to the conclusion that at this point, a focus on word counts presents more distraction than help. Will I participate next year — that is still to be determined.

Organizing my site

This is it… I have spent the better part of several days arranging, organizing and de-cluttering my web site.

The theme — the only one I could find that I could install both here and at my wordpress blog — is the default Twenty Eleven version for the newest wordpress iteration. On my own site, I can add a number of plug ins, which have now provided me with colourful graphic links to social sites, as well as feeds if you want to follow me in your reader, and a fairly simple gallery. On my blog site, there is a link in the menu to return here. Now aren’t I smart?

Note in the new menu above, a selection ‘blog’ will take you to my wordpress blog, home will send you to my front page, and the other links have drop downs to various posts and pages, based on categories.

The name of the game is de-cluttering, which like so many people, I am trying to do in the physical world as well as here in the virtual world. Seems odd, doesn’t it, to discover as much junk and stuff online as off? Continue reading

Update — Content Management over 2 Sties

I’ve changed to the default theme, Twenty Eleven, which can be used on both wordpress sites, and here at my own domain. The idea is to move all my blogging efforts over to wordpress, use this site for occasional ‘posts’ and static pages.
